WRITING ABOUT LONDON

London is a city in the south of England. Its name was Londinium in Roman times. In Roman times only 45.000 people lived there, and now about 7,5 milion.

There are places in London with the names of important people or important battles in history.
There a Trafalgar Square. This name was used because there was the Battle of Trafalgar, and there Victoria street. This name was used because the queen's name was Victoria.

The people of London are called Londoners or "Cockneys". Famous Londoners include Charlie Chaplin and Arthur Conan Doyle. Charlie Chaplin was an actor and Arthur Conan Doyle was a writer of Sherlock Holmes stories.
